MCFSC’s volunteer team, “The Woodies” are a diverse group of retired and active firefighters, nurses, school teachers and administrators, social workers, law enforcement, hairdressers, authors, art historians, and illustrators.
The Woodies donate thousands of hours in labor each year. Brush clearing, weed whacking, raking, and hauling debris is essential in keeping our communities fire-resistant & The Woodies are part of that effort!
Their primary activity is cutting and splitting donated wood from local tree companies for the firewood bank at the Idyllwild HELP Center. Many local residents rely on this firewood to heat their homes in the winter.
In 2023, Woodies processed 52 cords of wood and contributed nearly 1300 hours in community service!
